I am extremely pleased with my PRK experience with Dr. Seth Oppenheim, and the Hampton Roads Eye Associates staff. Every morning I wake up and grin because I can see everything around me. This past weekend I was working on my house, and the task required I wear safety goggles. It was the first time I was able to put on goggles and there was no discomfort because my glasses were underneath, and I did not have to worry about dust going under my contact lenses. I am very excited about an upcoming trip where I will be able to swim underwater and see my surroundings for the first time in over two decades. I still cannot believe I see so well each day, having worn glasses since the age of seven, and I am extremely appreciative of the care and surgery received from the Hampton Roads Eye Associates. Thank you very much for letting me see!

PRK Surgery

If there's a new way to describe a miracle - this surgery would be it. Since I was 8 years old I've worn glasses. When contacts became popular I was determined to find the type that would work for me but after trying every kind available; the glasses went back on my face and stayed for 20 years!

This surgery has been an incredible enhancement! If there's a downside at all it would be that I've probably gone a little 'designer sunglass' crazy.

If I'd known it worked this well ... I would have done it long ago.

I had PRK vision correction in September 2006 with Dr. Oppenheim. The surgery went very well. Dr. Oppenheim and his staff were attentive, caring, and helpful. I am happy with my experience and the results. It has made a huge difference in my everyday life. If I could give one piece of advice to anyone having surgery in the future, it would be to be patient with the recovery. It may take longer than you planned to get your full vision back, but still be patient.

The world is much clearer now with the new ICL implantable lens. I never thought in a million years that I would be able to see without glasses...or contact lenses. I will never be able to thank you enough for what you have done for me...and my family. It is wonderful to wake up and see Nicholas and Jade so clearly. "I heartily recommend Dr. Seth Oppenheim to anyone considering laser vision correction surgery.  I underwent my laser vision correction surgery on January 4, 2006, and have been extremely pleased with the outcome.  The entire process, from workup examinations to the actual surgery and post-operative follow-up exams, has been very thorough and professional, and it has been a joy to work with Dr. Oppenheim and his staff.  As for the surgery, I had a combination of PRK on one eye for near vision, and Custom LASIK on the other eye for distance vision, a combination called monovision, designed to allow me to see clearly both near and far, without the need for reading glasses for close work.  The results have been superb - my distance vision is excellent, and I spend all day working at a computer and reading with no difficulty.

If you are like I was, hesitant about laser vision correction and waiting for the technology to improve, you need not wait any longer - Dr. Oppenheim and friendly, professional and courteous staff will take good care of you!"

Just a note to thank you and your staff for the wonderful job you all performed. From the first appointment to now, your staff has been nothing less than professional and caring. They made me feel comfortable before, during and after my LASIK surgery. My eyes are getting better everyday and after 35 years with corrective lenses this is a true blessing.

Being a part of the military, the results are incredible. No more do I have to concern myself with packing an extra set of glasses for my next deployment "just in case."

You all did an amazing job and I would recommend your office to anyone.

I just wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you to all the staff at Hampton Roads Eye Associates. From the Receptionists to the medical staff to Dr. Oppenheim, everyone went out of their way to be sure the experience was a relaxing and comfortable one. Even to the point of making sure my wife (who is rather squeamish) had a place to wait AWAY from the video monitoring of my procedure on the day of the surgery... Everything was explained patiently and in great detail prior to any examination or procedure, and they were most willing to explain what all the results meant.

If there's a better place to have any type of laser surgery done, I can't imagine it. They have my strongest and most heartfelt recommendation to any and everyone!! Thank you again for driving without glasses or contacts!

Having recently had PRK laser surgery in your office, I felt that a thank you was in order. Having had very poor vision since childhood, I never realized until now what a blessing good vision is. Colors are brighter and images are sharper than I ever imagined. I am still amazed that I can drive and perform other normal outdoor activities without the need for corrective lenses. The very minimal discomfort experienced was a small price to pay for such a huge benefit.

Your desire to provide the best service possible was made obvious by your attitude and attention to detail. Your willingness to take the time to be friendly and to explain each procedure made what could have been a very stressful experience, an almost pleasant one. This same attitude has cascaded down to every member of your staff. Every one that I came in contact with put me at ease because it was obvious that they too were very competent in what they were doing. Please convey my thanks to them also.

I came to you with fears and doubts and left with perfect vision. What a wonderful trade!

Dear Dr. Oppenheim,
I am glad to have the opportunity to share my Laser Vision Correction experience. From the first appointment through the follow-up process, I have been extremely pleased with the service and care you and your staff have provided. During the screening session, you and Sherri were available to answer any and all of my questions honestly and thoroughly (and thereafter, by phone, as well). You both helped me to feel at ease about the surgery and recovery process.

The procedure itself was quick and painless. Even though I worried that my eyes moved while tracking the laser, your staff reassured me that everything went very well. During the initial recovery, I did not experience any discomfort and did not need the pain medication. Once the contacts were removed, my vision was still pretty fuzzy, but gradually improved each day. After two weeks, I could see with about 80 percent clarity. Four weeks after the surgery, I could see 20/20 and I still had yet to heal completely.

The results are absolutely incredible and I cannot even describe the feeling that comes with the freedom from wearing glasses and contacts. I wore corrective lenses for 16 years, which is probably less than many people. I wish I made this decision sooner, but I hesitated (needlessly) due to anxiety about the procedure. But now I can give testimony so others can experience the same comfort, convenience, and relief. Many thanks to you and your staff for making this procedure available, affordable, and worry-free.

Just a note to thank Dr. Oppenheim & his staff for the way I was treated before, during, and after my PRK surgery. My eyesight is improving every day and I really regret waiting so long to have it done. As nervous as I was they made me feel very comfortable from the very first “work-up” session, right on up till now.
